That is why I asked your definition of "us"

I think it will be a long time before the software market improves. Dont know if we will ever get back to a growth rate as of the last 3 years.

From an investors standpoint, things could improve much more quickly.

i've heard 2002 will be better than 2001 but growth rates of 1998/1999 would probably never ever be repeated... also at this time the bricks/mortar types of companies look more favorable than the dot coms... i just hope this layoff thing doesn't hit india anytime soon :)

.... I'll say 2-3 years atleast for the rebound. As for jobs in the IT industry, I dont think that there is any problem. Believe me, there is a big scarcity of people with right skils. The only trouble is that more n more employers want full time guys and dont want to pay the bodyshopper. It is actually good for the H1s as more employers are now becoming ready to sponsor visa. The only ones in trouble are those who have to stick to their present jobs because of their GC sponsorship

i don't think 1998 or 1999 will ever return... have heard java/vb professionals are the worst hit while C++/UNIX guys are still doing ok.... personally expect things to get much worse... i mean companies with annual turnover of $40 million still have market cap of $850 million... this is still insane.... :(
